In Autumn of 2016 my Edinburgh Fringe producer, the highly respected Scottish cabaret performer and producer Frodo Allan (aka Rufus T) invited me to set up the London branch of his Glasgow-based free monthly cabaret variety show Not So Secret Society. The venue was preset as being Artworks UK, right next to Elephant & Castle Station
This led to my setting up a trial night on 30th January using the same model as Not So Secret Soc, and it was to be called (cunningly) Not So Secret Society London! I booked a great bill of strong acts from all different genres, headlined by one of my favourite comics, the wonderful Elf Lyons.
The night was completely packed out, every act performed to the top of their game, resulting in one of the best nights of live entertainment London has ever witnessed! Some highlights of which can be viewed here
Following the success of our trial night, Not So Secret Society London was confirmed as a monthly event for the foreseeable future, to run the last Friday of each month where possible. Our second night featured another solid lineup including Comedy, Magic, Music, Burlesque, Clowning and Cabaret, and the highlight reel is on this link.
Not So Secret Society London promises a great lineup every month, free entry, a cheap bar and happy memories for all.
Details of our next event can be found here – it stars TV comedy competition winner Paul Kerensa, plus BBC Radio comedy star John-Luke Roberts and the legendary Peter Buckley-Hill, founder of PBH’s Free Fringe.
Future dates to keep a note of are Fridays: 28 April, 2 June, 30 June and 28 July before taking a month off for Edinburgh. Please ‘Like’ our Official Facebook Page and come down to support one of our nights soon. We’ve got some superb performers coming up for you.
